Premier League Prediction Tips for Beginners

Practical habits for new players in Premier League score prediction games on Perfect Score.

Published 5 June 2026 · All guides

Form beats reputation

A big badge on the shirt does not mean a big scoreline. Look at the last five league games. Check if the manager is rotating for Europe. xG trends help if you already follow them; last five results help if you do not.

Points reward accuracy, not storylines. A boring 1-1 often beats a hopeful 4-0 that gets the result wrong.

Home still matters

Crowds, travel, familiar pitch. Mid-table home side against a knackered away trip? Classic 2-1 or 1-0 territory. You might miss the exact score and still pick up 1 or 2 points.

Watch the clock

Deadlines usually follow the first kick-off in the round. Friday night games catch people out every year. Some players lock most picks midweek and leave one fixture until team news on Saturday. Others do it all Sunday morning. Either works if you know when the door closes.

Pick the result first

Home win, draw, or away win. Then choose numbers that fit how that team actually wins: tight and defensive, or open and chaotic. Copying last week's score because it worked once is a fast way to get zero.

Use the table as feedback

After the gameweek, glance at who topped the weekly board. Did they stack exact scores or grind out correct results? Both routes work. Pick a style that matches how much time you want to spend on research.

Ten steady gameweeks beat one perfect round followed by rushed entries. The scoring maths is in our points guide; this is about habit.
