Prediction Leaderboard Tie-Breakers Explained

What happens when two players finish level on points, and how to read the rules for your league.

Published 1 September 2026 · All guides

Why ties happen

Tables rank by total points. When two or more players land on the same number, something has to separate them for prizes, badges, or pub arguments.

Rules are in the competition terms. Hub defaults can differ from private club leagues. Read the one you actually entered.

What usually breaks a tie

Most often: who had more exact scores (3-point picks). Still level? Correct goal-difference picks (2 points), then correct results (1 point).

Some leagues use submission time. Earliest valid entry wins a dead heat in one competition; another might ignore time and split the prize.

Weekly vs season

Gameweek tables reset each round, so tie-breaks mostly hit weekly prizes. Season-long ties at the top are rare but can decide jackpots or credit tiers.

Club leagues can set custom tie-breaks. Check the club rules page if you play in a private group.

Protecting your rank

Stacking exact scores is the cleanest way to avoid tie-break roulette. If you are not confident on the precise score, a correct result still adds points and can help on secondary counts.

When submission time counts, enter when the slip is finished, not when the gameweek first opens with half your research done.
